The Indian Emily legend first appeared in print in Carlysle Raht’s The Romance of Davis Mountains and Big Bend Country, published in 1919. A legend can be defined as an unverified popular tale handed down from an earlier time, a romanticized story, a fantasy, a myth, or a fairy tale.
